Nearly 9 million people identify as an LGBT elder in the United States, according to a 2016 Gallup Survey. These older than average adults face more challenges than any other age group. Among the most common problems LBGT elders face on a daily basis are discrimination, social stigma, and loneliness. However, older LGBT people are often ignored when care is needed.

SAGE, the country's largest (and oldest) LBGT group, focuses on improving LGBT elders' lives.
