The merry-go-round is one of the oldest amusement rides, alongside the roller coaster.. The merry-go-round rotates on a pole and is also known as the carousel. There was no limit to their imaginations, which was more surprising. Riders are carried around by ferocious tigers and docile lambs. All the while the music performs its lilting tune.. No two carousels are alike, but it is unquestionably that no two carousels are alike.
Any turning platform may also be referred to as a merry-go-round, in addition to carousels. By comparison, children dominate the playground merry-go-round. They are forbidden from using the bars or handles. As the platform spins, the riders cling to the same bars.. Since the riders determine the speed, the faster they push, the faster they go. Not surprisingly, becoming dizzy was one of the thrills of riding the merry-go-round.

Merry go round day event history has a long tradition of national merry go round day events
Bette Largent, President of the National Carousel Association and carousel scholar Ronald Hopkins, founded National Merry-Go-Round Day in 2014. They were born on the day to shed a light on these dazzling, historical masterpieces. The date commemorates the first US patent granted in 1871 to William Schneider of Davenport, Iowa, for the modern carousel.
