The Martini's popularity increased as the James Bond films debuted in the late 1960s. Clear spirits such as vodka surpassed aged spirits like bourbon in market share in the late 1980s. However, a balancing act seems to be taking place in recent decades.
Over the years, the classic Martini has inspired a number of other cocktails, including the Cosmopolitan, chocolatini, or appletini.
