Every year on June 21, World Humanist Day is celebrated.. It's a way to disseminate knowledge and combat misinformation about humanism as a philosophical life stance and a way to influence change around the world.
Humanism was first described as "humanitas" in the Encyclopedia Britannica. Humanism was originally described as "humanitas." It was the fullest development of human virtue in all its aspects. "Understanding, benevolence, compassion, mercy," the word implied, but also more assertive characteristics such as fortitude, discernment, prudence, eloquence, and even love of honor were implied. The AHA and then the IHEU passed resolutions announcing that the Summer Solstice is World Humanist Day in the late 1980s and early 1990s..
