DAY IS INTERNATIONAL DANCE DAY - INTERNATIONAL DANCE DAY -

History

The International Dance Committee of the International Theatre Institute selected Jean-Georges Noverre's birthday on April 29th as International Dance Day on International Dance Day to honor Jean-Georges Noverre's birthday. He is best known as the modern ballet's creator. In 1982, the day was first recognized in the United States.

Each year, a guest speaker is selected to spread the word of the International Dance Council around the world. In some way, shape, or form, the speaker is associated with dancing in some manner, shape, or form. Prioritizing speakers included names such as Sasha Waltz, William Forsythe, Maguy Marin, Robin Howard, and Yuri Grigorovitch.
