The type of nystagmus, medications, and symptoms may vary. About 1 out of every 1000 babies are born with nystagmus, but adults are also affected by it.

With two specific forms of nystagmus, drifting or wobbly eyes, Nystagmus appears as drifting or wobbly eyes.

  • Jerk nystagmus – As the name implies, the eyes jerk quickly in one direction and are followed by slow movements in the opposite direction
  • Pendular nystagmus – The eyes move with equal force in either direction

There are also 5 classifications of diagnoses for the condition.. Infancy or childhood, one of those is congenital nystagmus, which physicians diagnose mainly in infants or children. However, acquired nystagmus can be related to illness or side effects of prescription or misjudged medications. Congenital nystagmus is more prevalent of both the two types.

Many people with nystagmus face a variety of difficulties. They may be legally blind due to the condition. They may have severe vision loss causing them to be legally blind. They often face self-image and social problems because their eye movements distinguish them from others. The day aims to eliminate some of these fears by raising awareness and eliminating stigma..

Although no cure exists, contact lenses, glasses, insulin, and even surgical intervention are all common problems. Although no cure exists, surgical interventions are often used. Early intervention is vital in several illnesses, as shown by many conditions. A physician will determine the type and source of nystagmus as well as the correct treatment strategy.
