National Blueberry Popsicle Day

National Blueberry Popsicle Day, September 2nd, also marks the start of National Blueberry Popsicle Month. It's a refreshing way to cool down, and it's scheduled in the midst of the dog days of summer. Purchase a box of blueberry-flavored Popsicles or make your own. Either way, the dessert will be a delectable one! Now is the time to commemorate this National Day with the end of summer just around the corner.

Frank Epperson, an 11-year-old Frank Epperson, was outside on his porch in San Francisco, California, mixing water with a white powdered flavoring to make soda. He left it outside on the porch with the stirring stick still attached. That night, the temperature hit a record low, and Frank discovered the drink had frozen to the stick the following morning.

Epperson introduced his candy at a fireman's ball, 1922, where it was a huge success. At an amusement park in Alameda, California, he made and sold his frozen treat-on-a-stick in 1923. In 1924, Epperson applied for a patent for his frozen confectionery, which he described as "Epsicle" ice pop. He then renamed it "Popsicle." He then renamed it "Popsicle."
