NATIONAL CHEESESTEAK DAY – March 24

National Cheesesteak Day

On March 24th, not only celebrates a delectable sandwich but it honors one of this country's greatest debates; who invented this delectableness??

For a cheesesteak, it's like March Madness. At 10 AM, Pat's and Geno's meet at 10 AM, followed by Chubby's and Dalessandro's at 11 a.m. At Noon, Jim's and Tony Luke's at Noon. Basketball fans know how brackets work. Somebody is going to get a bye.

However, Pat Olivieri, a hot dog vendor from the 1930s, receives the award. According to Philadelphia's tourism website, Pat's King of Steaks remains on its original location and is still going strong. This writer has had a cheesesteak from there and will go back in a heartbeat.

This delectable, juicy sandwich on a hoagie roll is the main thing. The roll is filled with chipped steak, and you can order it with or without cheese and onions. If you've never had one, you can only get an authentic one in Philly. Some other countries try, so go where you can. But go to Philadephia someday, and Philadephia will be there. It's the real deal.
