National Decency Day
On May 14th, the basic civility that every American owes is recognized on National Decency Day. In both talks and actions, DECENCY is a non-partisan grassroots movement established to instill decency in everyday life. The movement seeks to inspire schools and local community groups to embrace DECENCY and integrate it into both curriculum and service programs by raising the profile.
This is what decency is all about: decency is all about:
Active listening Better understanding Compassion
Decency is a way for our children to be more role models. We are leading the right example by example if we can all be courteous with one another.

History of national decency Day has influenced national decency day.
In 2019, Lisa Cholnoky, a New York City-based parent and graphic designer, established National Decency Day, a discussion that began two years ago inspired by her inspiration.. The day addresses the divisive public discourse surrounding her, as well as in the news and on social media. Cholnoky, determined to make a difference, set out to bring decency back to everyday conversations and activities.. Cholnoky invented the DECENCY button and carried it with him every day. The impact was immediate; the message was contagious.
Each member of the United States Congress was sent a DECENCY and 535 DECENCY buttons in July 2017. DECENCY was acknowledged on the floor of the United States House of Representatives in September 2017, urging both sides to reach across the aisle with civility and serve as role models for us all.
Since then, two schools in the country have integrated DECENCY into their curriculums. They've also joined their local communities in the movement.. Schools of all ages can energize students of all ages to treat everyone with respect and master the art of listening.
The movement aims to inspire more students to embrace DECENCy and incorporate it into both curriculum objectives and service projects by raising the funds.
