National Floral Design Day - February 28th
Tue Feb 28th

National Floral Design Day

On February 28th, National Floral Design Day honors floral design's art and history. Floral design has long been regarded as a significant cultural art form for thousands of years. This is the day we celebrate the art form. It may be in a bouquet, painting, in fabrics, a garden, or a floral arrangement.

Floral design is a multi-billion dollar industry that brightens our lives on a daily basis..

Florist designers have an eye for color, style, and perspective on everything from majestic, historic gardens to a bridal bouquet on that special day. Floral designs can transform a space by complementing existing buildings and adding brightness and color to them.

Floral design has a long history, dating back to Egyptian temple offerings to gods in the United States. The style transitioned from era to era, with each having their own unique customs and traditions.

History of the national floral design day has spanned decades

Floral Design Day was created in Boston as a unique way to commemorate Carl Rittner's birthday, the founder of the Rittners School of Floral Design, 60 years ago, in Boston.. Mr. Rittner, a floral art education pioneer, is a pioneer in floral art education. The idea of a holiday that honors floral design as an art form is a wonderful one whose time has come. So they, as well as Mr. Rittner, wanted to see Floral Design Day continue to be observed as an event in its own right.

Governor William F. Weld of Massachusetts, a native of Massachusetts, declared this day Floral Design Day in 1995.
