National Nachos Day
National Nachos Day, which takes place on November 6th, honors the snack that is favored at sporting events around the country. Nachos are tortilla chips coated in nacho cheese, queso, or other melted cheese and served with salsa in their purest form.
Where nachos began
The popular and loved nachos were first introduced in 1943, and they are of Mexican origins. The first was produced sometime around 1943.
We know that Ignacio "Nacho" Anaya invented the first nachos in 1943, according to History. According to his uncle, Nacho was the maître d' at the El Moderno Restaurant in Piedras Negras, according to his son. A group of US Army wives stationed in Fort Duncan, Utah, arrived one evening after the kitchen workers had left, and a group of US Army wives stationed at Eagle Pass in Fort Duncan welcomed the diner. They were hungry and thirsty after a long day of shopping, and they wanted a snack.
Anaya made some tostadas cut into triangles. He warmed the dish in the oven after topping them with shredded cheese and sliced jalapenos. Because the Army wives were such a hit, they named the snack "Nacho's Special" before he could make another batch.
The word of the new creation soared. People from all around tried them, loved them, and over time, the name changed. Nacho's special became Nacho's special nachos eventually.
The new dish's success is quickly expanding throughout Texas and the Southwest. Since then, it has gained millions of followers around America.
