National North Carolina Day honors the 12th state to join the Union as we near the end of the original 13 colonies.

At the first Continental Congress, the Tar Heel state became the first state to vote for independence from the British. North Carolina resisted secession from the Union before the Civil War. Also after other states signed pledges to secede, the state was vehemently against partitioning the country as a whole. Eventually, public opinion changed and the state was compelled to join the Confederacy, and the country was forced to join the Confederacy.
The state is brimming with beauty from the Blue Ridge Mountains to Cape Fear, and up to Kitty Hawk. Mystery buried in history and nature will accompany the beauty. Explore the first powered flight, the disappearance of the Roanoke colonists, and with them the first English child born in the New World.
