National Silence the Shame Day, May 5th, gives the opportunity to continue the discussion of mental health and wellness as well as removing stigma associated with mental illness.

Mental illness, like every other health problem, is diagnosed at various stages. It may have fewer symptoms from time to time and/or an effect on our daily activities. It's also important to know that mental disorders are treatable and recovery is possible.

Many people don't have an inexpensive or readily available routine plan of care for mental health problems in comparison to other areas of our health care, and no one has an affordable or accessible standard of care for mental health problems. Individuals who have access to many people are often living in silence due to the stigma of being diagnosed.

The shame day is a national silence, providing education and information about mental health, wellness, mental health, and recovery

On May 5, 2017, the Hip-Hop Professional Foundation, Inc., founded Silence the Shame Day to raise positive awareness and education of mental disorders and promote open discussion of mental health.

Shanti Das is a gifted entertainment executive, consultant, entrepreneur, mentor, and Philanthropist.

Shanti, a 27-year veteran of the entertainment industry, has 27 years experience. Including stints at Capitol Records, LaFace Records, Columbia Records, Sony Urban Music, and Universal Motown, where she worked closely with some of music's top performers, including Outkast, Usher, Prince, TLC, Toni Braxton, Erykah Badu, and others, among other things.

The foundation's goal, as an advocate for many social justice and service projects over the past nine years, is to empower and enrich the lives of those in underserved communities around mental health, youth rights, and poverty.

Silence the Shame is the foundation's mental health charity. Shanti has suffered from depression for the years, and has also experienced loved ones with mental illness. With Silence the Shame, she hopes to remove the layers of shame and stigma as it pertains to mental stability.
