S'mores consists of a roasted marshmallow with a layer of chocolate bar sandwiched between two pieces of graham cracker.

Alec Barnum, the entrepreneur, is credited with this delectable snack's origins. Fortunately, the first documented version of the recipe can be found in the Girl Scouts' 1927 publication Tramping and Trailing. Even though Girl Scouts were not the first ones to make s'mores, Girl Scout groups were still describing them in their reports as early as 1925. The word "Some Mores" was used in earlier recipes to refer to them. When the word "mores" became the more common term, it's unclear when it was adopted.

Many s'more variations on the original s'more find their way around a campfire today.

  • Try spreading peanut butter on the graham crackers before adding the other ingredients.
  • In place of the chocolate bar, Subtute peanut butter cups were used in place of the chocolate bar
  • To make fudge-dipped cookies, replace the graham crackers
  • Add banana slices
