National Teddy Bear Day, September 9th, honors the past of one of childhood's favorite toys.. We've all had a cuddly teddy as a child. Some of us still have our teddy bear from our childhood. Regardless of what kind of teddy bear you had, the day is a perfect opportunity to honor your childhood friend.

While hunting in Mississippi in 1902, American President Theodore Roosevelt refused to fire a bear cub. The incident made national television news. Clifford Berryman published a cartoon of the event in the Washington Post on November 16th, 1902, and the caricature became a instant hit.

He made a new toy and even had a name in mind. President Roosevelt ordered Michtom to ask permission to name the new toy a "Teddy Bear," according to Michtom.

His Teddy Bear Radar from Sesame Street named him his Teddy Bear Radar.. The lasagna loving cat on Garfield the Cat Day armed himself with Pooky, his lovable scapegoat. Winnie-the-Pooh and Paddington are among Teddy Bears' British invasions. The Care Bears first appeared on greeting cards in 1981. They jumped into television and toy history not long after.
And let's not forget the Muppet character Fozzie Bear.. The lovable and comedic bear has been enduring with one-liners, slapstick, and musical comedies for the longest time.
