Reformation Day

Reformation Day is one of the most significant events in Christianity on October 31st. The Protestant Reformation began on this date in 1517.

Christianity dominated Christianity around the world until 1517. The Catholic Church's beliefs predominated Christianity until 1517. That is until Martin Luther, an Augustinian monk, began studying the Bible for himself. He was then brave enough to nail his "95 Theses" to the Castle Church door in Wittenberg, Germany. He was then able to nail his "95 Theses" to the door of the Castle Church. The Roman Catholic Church was condemned by several of its unbiblical activities by part of Luther's theses. Requesting for payment in order to forego sins was one such tactic. These payments were called indulgences. These were not incurred.

Luther was advised by the Roman Catholic Church not to reveal his views and convictions.. When he didn't, he was excommunicated from the Church. Today, Protestants in the United States belong to many denominations. These include Presbyterian, Episcopal, Lutheran, Lutheran, Baptist, Methodist, Methodist, and Wesleyan. Up to 1 billion of the world's 2.5 billion Christians, up to 1 billion of whom are Protestant.. The United States has the largest Protestant population.

On this day, Protestant churches around the world hold special services. Some people watch television or learn about other influential men who influenced the Protestant Reformation. These men include John Wycliffe, William Tyndale, and John Hus, as well as Martin Luther. Some churches and families have Reformation Day parties rather than celebrating Halloween.
