Fashion Revolution Day is April 24. It takes place on the reopening of the Rana Plaza building in 2013. On this day, designers encourage people to ask their favorite clothing brands, "who made my clothes?" The aim is to bring greater transparency in the fashion supply chain, but it does not exist in the manufacturing process.
A garment factory in Dhaka, Bangladesh, on April 24, 2013, killing 1,133 workers and injuring 2,500 more. This was the deadliest accident in the clothing industry's history. The Rana Plaza building was reported to have been constructed with substandard materials under faulty conditions, yet the factory remained very active up until the deadly demise.
A Bangladesh textile factory closed five months earlier, killing 110 workers.
Organizers promote grassroots and social media involvement. People are encouraged to post on social media, asking people to use the all-important #whomademyclothes hashtag.
