This day, there is a day of protest in the name of the environment. The day honors a nonviolent movement for change to improve air quality, reduce reliance on fossil fuels, use of plastics, and water quality. Environmental justice is also concerned with conservation and preservation.

Greenpeace, founded in 1971 by 17 activists who were protesting nuclear testing off the shores of Alaska, now has a worldwide presence. Their campaigns continue to promote and protect the Earth, despite taking on environmental issues and raising concerns.
