What is International Romani Day?
DAY IS INTERNATIONAL ROMANI DAY, INTERNATIONAL ROMANI DAY.
Each year, International Romani Day is always celebrated on April 8th. It honors the first major international meeting of Romani representatives held in Chelsfield, near London, between April 7 and 11, 1971.
In parts of what is now India and Pakistan, traveling court musicians called Romani were first traveling court musicians.
The Romani have their own language and culture. They migrated to Turkey, France, Spain, and Spain in the Middle Ages. Flamenco was born in Spain, where their history blended with Iberian, Jewish, Muslim, and Moorish culture, becoming known as Flamenco. They are one of the most persecuted populations, threatened by both the Nazis and Communists, as well as many local governments in Asia and Africa, and Africa's many local governments.
Many Romani immigrated to the United States, Canada, Brazil, and other nations in the Americas in the early 1800s. One million Roma in the United States are estimated in the United States, and 800,000 in Brazil.
