What is National Eggnog Day?
On the day before Christmas, National Eggnog Day raises a holiday toast. Eggnog is a common drink throughout the United States during the holidays, also known as egg milk punch.
The sweetened dairy-based beverage is traditionally made with milk and cream, sugar, whipped eggs, and spices. Alcohol is often added to the eggnog at parties and holiday get-togethers. Many people like brandy, rum, whiskey, bourbon, or vodka. They may even mix up a mixture. For added holiday cheer, try a dash of cinnamon, nutmeg, or pumpkin spice in the glass.
Eggnog is also available in other holiday treats.. For example, at your grocery store, you can buy eggnog flavored coffees, teas, baked goods, and puddings. You may even have a few recipes of your own to spice up your holiday baking, too!!
Despite the fact that the origins of the eggnog drink is debated, many believe that the drink originated in East Anglia, England. However, others believe it originated as a medieval European beverage made with hot milk.
