Gardening on its own is therapeutic, builds muscle, and burns calories. Weeding, digging, spading, planting, pruning, mowing, raking, and walking are all examples of the gardening activities that are great for muscle workouts and for burning calories.
Many of us are unaware of the amount of healthy exercise we can get while gardening outside in the garden. It involves a lot of walking back and forth as well as bending up and down as well as other activities. An added benefit is being out in the fresh air and sunshine. Incorporating stretching into a gardening routine can help prevent injury, as well as any athletic pursuit. Adding those squats will help with muscle building or retaining muscle, and extra steps may make gardening more enjoyable, as it raises the heart rate. Gardening and exercise are both great stress relievers.
