The tradition of kissing the Blarney Stone in Ireland has existed for centuries, and is believed to bestow the kisser with the gift of eloquence and persuasiveness. Kissing the feet of royalty or those in power is another medieval tradition that has hopefully has been banished.. Kissing the ring of someone to demonstrate fidelity is a similar act of kissing.
Hand-kissing is the result.. Although this gesture demonstrates loyalty to someone, it has a friendlier tone than that of kissing feet.. For some, it's a mark of respect and admiration.
