What is National Nut Day?

On October 22nd, the annual National Nut Day is observed. This day isn't about the neighbor who lives down the street or the co-worker who sings with their headphones on. It is a food holiday in the United States, and a healthy and nutritious snack is being served.

Nuts are a highly prized food and energy source, and they are a common source of nutrients for both humans and wildlife. Many of them are used in baking, raw, sprouted, or roasted as a snack food, and pressed for oil that is used in cookery and cosmetics. For the most part, nuts' fats are unsaturated fats, such as monounsaturated fats.

Many nuts are also rich in protein, folate fiber, and essential minerals such as magnesium, phosphorus, potassium, copper, and selenium, as well as selenium./sub>2./sub>2>2.

Nuts are essential to animals, particularly those in temperate climates, as they store acorns and other nuts during the fall and early spring.
