What is National Teddy Bear Day?

National Teddy Bear Day, September 9th, honors the past of one of childhood's favorite toys.. We've all had a cuddly teddy as a child. Some of us still have our teddy bear from our childhood. Regardless of what kind of teddy bear you had, the day is a perfect opportunity to honor your childhood friend.

While hunting in Mississippi in 1902, American President Theodore Roosevelt refused to fire a bear cub. The incident made national television news. Clifford Berryman published a cartoon of the event in the Washington Post on November 16th, 1902, and the caricature became a instant hit.
