What is National Teflon Day?
On April 6th each year, Dr. Roy Plunkett's accidental discovery of Teflon on April 6, 1938, is commemorated.
lene while working in the E. I. du Pont de Nemours and Company lab on April day, Plunkett and his assistant mistakenly discovered polytetrafluoroethylene. In 1945, Chemours registered the Teflon trademark. In 1985, the Inventors' Hall of Fame inducted Dr. Plunkett into its ranks.
Although Plunket is credited for Teflon's development, another individual saw Teflon's greater function. Marion A.Trozzolo moved it from the laboratory to the kitchen. Professor The Kansas City, Missouri professor used the chemical to coat his scientific utensils. This use led him to the establishment of Laboratory Plasticware Fabricators later.
In 1961, he introduced The Happy Pan, the first US-made Teflon coated frying pan.
Teflon can be found everywhere and in unexpected places, as well. Today, Teflon can be found in surprising places. It is also used to shield fabrics and reduce friction in the aerospace industry, in lieu of coating metals for cooking. It also helps to increase production and minimize contamination in pharmaceuticals..
