The creatures and animals that popul our planet live under our feet and in the sky above us. Wildlife of all shapes and sizes are teeming in our rivers, lakes, and oceans. It's important to know how we influence the habitats that animals need to survive in. Their families provide their food and shelter.
Understanding conservation and preservation is vital because wildlife depends on a healthy habitat. Developing plans helps maintain existing habitats and repair or replace those that have been destroyed. When a species' decline is identified, these steps are particularly important. For example, each year in August, International Whale Shark Day draws attention to the plight of the world's largest fish. Despite all of its efforts, the gentle giant continues to decline in numbers.
