What is Veterans Day?
On November 11th, Veterans Day in the United States Armed Forces honors military veterans who served in the United States Armed Forces. These observances coincide with Armistice Day and Remembrance Day, which commemorates World War I. On the 11th day of 1918, the Armistice with Germany came into operation. Initially, the United States observed Armistice Day as well. However, in 1954, it was converted into the present Veterans Day.
Veterans Day is not to be confused with Memorial Day or Armed Forces Day. All United States military veterans are commemorated on Veterans Day in the United States. However, Memorial Day is set aside for honoring the men and women who died while serving. In addition, Armed Forces Day honors the men and women currently serving in the US military.

In addition, all federal employees receive holiday pay on Veterans Day. However, those that are required to work often receive holiday pay in addition to their salaries.
