What is World No Tobacco Day?

WORLD NO TOBACCO DAY

Every year on May 31, World No Tobacco Day (WNTD) is celebrated around the world. It is supposed to promote 24 hours of abstinence from all forms of nicotine use around the world. The day is expected to draw attention to the widespread use of nicotine use and its adverse health effects, which currently account for more than 7 million deaths per year worldwide, with 890,000 of which are due to non-smokers being exposed to second-hand smoke.

According to the World Health Organization, there are 1.1 billion tobacco users and nearly 350 million smokeless tobacco users around the world.
