This dish, which was created by Mrs. George Clay, used Baker's German Sweet Chocolate, and it became extremely popular. During this period, GM owned Baker's brand and sold Mrs. Clay's recipe to other newspapers around the country. As newspapers began removing the's,'s new name of German Chocolate Cake, as we know it today, came to be.
