World Narcolepsy Day
Every year, World Narcolepsy Day, September 22nd, raises the alarm about this common sleep disorder. Many people who have narcolepsy are also able to post their news on social media.
Narcolepsy is classified as a sleep disorder.. However, narcolepsy is also regarded as a chronic medical disorder. For those who have narcolepsy, the brain cannot regulate their sleep-wake cycle. Around the world, this disease affects 3 million people. This number does not include those that are undiagnosed. For those, it takes up to 15 years to be properly diagnosed with narcolepsy.
Common symptoms
The following are common signs of narcolepsy::

Other ways to help with narcolepsy's symptoms include nicotine and alcohol use. To help stay up throughout the day, doctors may prescribe stimulants or other prescription medications.
People with narcolepsy should alert their employers of their condition. They are also urged to find a support group that recognizes the condition.

World Narcolepsy Day was established in 2019 by twenty-four patient advocacy groups from six continents. The day was designed to unite the international narcolepsy community in order to raise public awareness of narcolepsy.
